Among the most recent architectural projects, we should mention the external cladding of the new Hyatt Regency Andares Hotel in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Built as part of the Master Plan for Andares, the visionary urban complex designed by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos which has transformed the Puerta de Hierro area in the new centre of the city of Zapopan in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, the building is 41 floors high and houses both a hotel and luxury apartments.

The guest’s experience of the hotel starts at the ground floor, with shops and conference rooms: the first 12 floors house the 257 bedrooms, the restaurant, swimming pool, gym and an exclusive club area, while the 28 upper floors are reserved for residential apartments of various sizes, culminating with the 2 penthouses.

The building is shaped like a thin prism, and is characterised by the sobriety of its materials: the purity of white concrete, the transparency of glass, and the elegance of black ceramic. Laminam slabs from the Blend collection, in the Nero finish and the 1000x3000mm size, thickness 3 mm, with fiberglass mesh backing, are cut to cover the structure like a close fitting skin, contributing to define its refined image.

Laminam ceramic is the perfect material for use in public settings because it is extremely resistant to impact, scratches, the weather and external stresses. In other words, it is a durable material.
